Simpson Industries, Inc. and Fukoku Co., Ltd. Announce Cooperative Effort

    PLYMOUTH, Mich., April 6 -- Mr. Roy E. Parrott, Chairman and
C.E.O. of Simpson Industries, Inc. and Mr. Eiichi Kawamoto,
President of Fukoku Co., Ltd., Ageo City, Saitama, Japan have entered into a
cooperative effort to explore anti-vibration solutions for the global
automotive and heavy duty truck markets.
    In an effort to provide advanced engineering design and development
support to their customers at the most crucial engine design state, Mr.
Kawamoto and Mr. Parrott feel that this cooperative effort will lead to the
most advanced design product and the lowest product cost structures.  In
addition to a single global product design, the manufacturing infrastructure
that accompanies this cooperative effort provides manufacturing locations
throughout the world.
    Presently, Simpson Industries has manufacturing facilities in the United
States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Europe (England, Spain, France) and Korea.  In
addition, technology development centers are located in Plymouth, Michigan,
Lyon, France and Halifax, England.  Fukoku has manufacturing facilities in
Japan, Thailand, Korea, Indonesia and the United States and a technology
development center in Gunma, Japan.
    Mr. Kawamoto and Mr. Parrott are continuing their history of expanding
their companies global capabilities to provide engineered product solutions
early in the engine development for manufacture in multiple locations around
the world.
