Kia Motors America Announces Organizational Changes

IRVINE, Calif., April 2 -- Kia Motors America has instituted
a number of organizational changes effective yesterday, in the wake of the
sudden passing of Greg Warner, Kia's executive vice president and chief
operating officer. Warner died March 10 of cardiac arrest triggered by an
acute asthma attack.
According to the changes announced by KMA President and Chief Executive
Officer W.K. Kim, Dick Macedo will assume the responsibilities of vice
president of marketing and sales. He was previously vice president of
marketing. All Kia regions, its dealer development, marketing, distribution
and logistics will fall under Macedo's leadership.
"Dick Macedo has directed Kia's very successful marketing campaign since
our launch in the U.S. five years ago," Kim said. "He has the experience and
market savvy to build on the firm foundation Greg Warner has left us."
Bill Camp, formerly executive director, corporate planning and finance,
has been named executive director, finance. The move is designed to focus his
efforts on the increasing needs of the Finance Department.
S.J. Yoo, formerly senior executive coordinator, has been assigned
responsibilities as corporate planning officer, reporting directly to Kim.
Randy Maurstad, manager, product planning and compliance, will also report to
Kim.
Steve Schmidt has been named consumer affairs operations manager. He was
previously regional manager of the Western Region. Mike McVeigh, the previous
consumer affairs operations manager, has been named consumer affairs
administration manager. Steve Shaw has been named to replace Schmidt as
regional manager of the Western Region.
John Schuetz, formerly manager, sales operations, has been appointed
manager, regional administration, while Dave Alfonso, previously manager,
remarketing, has been assigned duties as manager, fleet and remarketing.
Kia Motors America just completed the most successful quarter in its
history. First quarter 1998 sales of 19,475 units exceeded the previous
year's mark by 136 percent.
