Federal-Mogul Announces Organizational Structure for General Products GroupSOUTHFIELD, Mich., March 26 -- Frank Tomes, Federal-Mogul executive vice president - General Products, announces the organizational structure for the newly formed General Products Group with the following appointments: * Thomas Conaghan, vice president, systems protection products, General Products * John Ellis, director, finance, General Products * Steven C. Feeny, vice president, General Products Operations * Fred Heaton, director, business development, General Products * Christian J.O. Note, vice president, sintered products * Robert J. Roberts, vice president, camshafts * Stephen Spencer, director, human resources * Samuel F. Thomas, vice president, friction products * Edouard P. Waldburger, vice president, heat transfer products * David Whittaker, director, technology, General Products Thomas Conaghan, Vice President, Systems Protection Products Thomas Conaghan has been appointed vice president, systems protection products, General Products. Conaghan has held his current position since 1996, having worked in Bentley-Harris since 1974 in both sales and manufacturing positions, and as general manager - Europe. Conaghan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from Pennsylvania State University. John Ellis, Director, Finance, General Products John Ellis has been appointed director, finance, General Products. Prior to this, Ellis held the position of finance controller of the composites and camshafts group of T&N. He previously worked for BTR plc for 5 years in financial control roles at the product group level. Prior to BTR, Ellis spent 10 years at GEC rising through various positions to become chief accountant. Ellis has obtained an ONC in business studies and is a Fellow of Chartered and Certified Accountants. Steven C. Feeny, Vice President, General Products Operations Steven C. Feeny is vice president, General Products Operations. Feeny was appointed to his current position in November 1997. Feeny most recently held the position of general manager - general products operations. During his 24-year career at Federal-Mogul he has held positions of increasing responsibility in both manufacturing and aftermarket operations. He has served as manager of engine parts marketing, controller of North American manufacturing operations, controller of North American aftermarket operations, controller of National Grinding Wheel Division, financial analyst of North American operations, manufacturing plant accounting supervisor, and manufacturing plant labor relations representative. He began his career with Federal-Mogul at the Greenville, Michigan Powertrain Systems plant in 1974. Feeny earned a Master of Arts degree in social science and a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Michigan State University. Fred Heaton, Director, Business Development, General Products Fred Heaton has been appointed director, business development, General Products. Heaton previously held the position of new business manager for the composites and camshafts group of T&N. Prior to this, his positions included managing director of Flexitallic, part of T&N, and director and general manager of Hydratight, a company that he founded in 1975 which T&N bought in 1979. Prior to this, Heaton worked for 10 years in operational appointments with GKN. Heaton earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Aston University in England. Christian J.O. Note, Vice President, Sintered Products Christian J.O. Note has been appointed vice president, sintered products. Prior to this, Note held the position of president, powder metals group at T&N. Note has worked with T&N since 1988 having been President Directeur General of Curty Payen SA France since 1991 and President Directeur General of Bentley-Harris SA., France. Prior to joining T&N, Note held various technical services and sales and marketing positions in the Raychem Corporation in both Europe and the United States. Note is a qualified electronic engineer from Aalst, Belgium and has a degree in marketing and distribution from the University of Ghent. Robert J. Roberts, Vice President, Camshafts Robert J. Roberts has been appointed vice president, camshafts. Roberts has held his current position since 1996 having progressed since 1975 through various positions in Weyburn-Bartel including president of Weyburn-Bartel Inc. and Weyburn-Bartel da Mexico, general manager of Weyburn- Bartel Inc. (when part of JB Industries) and previous engineering management roles in Europe. Prior to joining Weyburn-Bartel, Roberts was senior manufacturing engineer with General Motors in the United Kingdom. Roberts obtained a Higher National Diploma from Luton College of Technology, England and is a graduate of General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan. He is also a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers. Stephen Spencer, Director, Human Resources, General Products Stephen Spencer has been appointed director, human resources, General Products. Prior to this, Spencer held the position of human resources controller for the composites and camshafts group of T&N. Before joining T&N in 1996, Spencer held various positions for 18 years within Courtaulds plc. His positions included management service director, Gossard Group and production director, Aristoc. Prior to this, he held various generalist human resource positions in multi-site, multi-national operations in chemical, paint and garment assembly divisions. Spencer earned a Master of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree in modern history from Cambridge University in England. Samuel F. Thomas, Vice President, Friction Products Samuel F. Thomas has been appointed vice president, friction products. Prior to this, Thomas held the position of chief executive of the friction products group of T&N. Previously, he was chief executive of the camshafts product group and managing director of the industrial sealing group. From 1976 to 1992, Thomas progressed within the Flexitallic business, rising through engineering and general management roles to become president and chief executive officer of Flexitallic Inc. from 1989 and chief executive, Flexitallic Ltd from 1991. Thomas earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York. Edouard (Ted) P. Waldburger, Vice President, Heat Transfer Products Edouard P. Waldburger has been appointed vice president, heat transfer products. He retains his regional responsibilities for South Africa. Prior to this, Waldburger held the position of chief executive officer, heat transfer products group, T&N Holdings Ltd. Previously, Waldburger held various works management and managing director posts in Ferodo (Pty) Ltd since 1979. Prior to T&N, Waldburger worked with Shell and BP Refineries. Waldburger earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Natal and is a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and the South African Council for Professional Engineers. David Whittaker, Director, Technology, General Products David Whittaker has been appointed director, technology, General Products. Prior to this appointment, Whittaker was technical controller for the composites and camshafts group of T&N. Whittaker joined T&N after a period of consultancy in the metallurgy business, having previously held various technical posts in GKN for 14 years culminating in the position of technical director, GKN Powder Metallurgy. Previously, he held senior research roles for International Research and Development Ltd and British Steel Corporation. Whittaker earned a Doctorate in metallurgy and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Sheffield.
