Hertz Opens Car Sales 'Superette' in Raleigh, NC
23 March 1998
Hertz Opens Car Sales 'Superette' in Raleigh, NCPARK RIDGE, N.J., March 23 -- The Hertz Corporation , the world's largest car rental company, announces the April 4, 1998 Raleigh, NC opening of its largest car sales location in the nation. Bigger than its conventional retail car sales locations, but smaller than a super store, the Hertz "superette" is positioned to offer car buyers a wide section of late-model vehicles at a competitive, no-haggle price. "With substantially lower overhead than the super stores, we're able to offer customers very attractive prices on a wide range of low mileage makes and models," commented Walter Seaman, Division Vice President, Fleet, Maintenance and Car Sales Operations. Situated on nine acres in the heart of the Triangle Region, the 40,000 square foot facility offers an inventory of up to 300 high-quality used cars, most of which are 12-months old, including Ford, GM, Toyota, Nissan, and Mazda models. The facility also features an inside showroom, sales offices, customer waiting areas, and service center. Inside the one-story, glass showroom customers may view the entire inventory of cars at any of the nine user-friendly computer kiosks. With the ease and simplicity of a touch screen, customers are able to search Hertz' inventory by entering the car type and payment option desired. Once computed, results of the search can be viewed by make/model, year, color, price, or mileage. When prompting a vehicle's "show-me" sign, customers receive a detailed description of the vehicle and, once printed, the lot location of their selection. The facility also features an automotive service center and two customer waiting areas. The service area, located in the rear of the building, has four bays for car maintenance and two bays for car detailing. The waiting rooms, which are adjacent to the showroom, accommodate not only customers, but also their children. Both rooms have television sets and vending machines, and the "munchkin" room keeps little ones entertained with a selection of toys and a game area in which they may play while parents browse Hertz' car lot. "Current, strong market conditions in the Raleigh area make this the perfect time to open Hertz' largest used car sales location," continued Seaman. "Customers today demand personalized service and attention, as well as a hassle-free shopping experience. Hertz Car Sales is ideal due to our low, fixed pricing structure. In addition, Hertz' high standards of service provide the car-buying public with the ultimate in shopping convenience." All Hertz cars are fully reconditioned and undergo an extensive 89-point maintenance check, which brings them to manufacturers' standards. All cars purchased at the location are subject to a five-day, 500-mile customer satisfaction guarantee. If the buyer is not completely satisfied with his or her purchase, the buyer returns the car within that period to the Hertz location for a refund or exchange. In the retail used-car business since the early 1970s, Hertz pioneered the concept of a convenient, one-low price, non-hassle, haggle-free environment. When purchasing a Hertz used car, buyers avoid new car depreciation; the residual manufacturer's warranty remains in effect on most cars; Hertz offers a no-deductible, 12-month/12,000-mile limited power train warranty at no additional cost and all maintenance records are available for review. Hertz' used car sales locations also offer comprehensive extended warranties, of up to 48-months, 48,000 miles, at an additional cost, backed by Hertz for added security.
