Federal-Mogul Announces Organizational Structure for Powertrain Systems GroupSOUTHFIELD, Mich., March 20 -- Alan C. Johnson, Federal-Mogul executive vice president - Powertrain Systems, announces the organizational structure for the newly formed Powertrain Systems Group with the following appointments: * Mike Verwilst, vice president, Powertrain Systems - Americas * Stefan Prigge, director of operations - piston rings, Powertrain Systems - Europe * Peter Spahn, director of operations - bearings, Powertrain Systems - Europe * Ian Darke, director of operations - pistons, Powertrain Systems - Europe * Duraid Mahrus, director of product engineering and marketing, Powertrain Systems - Europe * Horst Muller, director of finance, Powertrain Systems - Europe * Neil Graham, managing director - large bearings, Powertrain Systems * Brian Ruddy, director of business development, Powertrain Systems * Kevin Thomas, director of human resources, Powertrain Systems * Jackie Parkhurst, director of quality, Federal-Mogul * Allan Welsh, special advisor "We are extremely pleased to have a leadership team with such a depth of wide ranging experience and proven capability in international business," said Johnson. Mike Verwilst, Vice President, Powertrain Systems - Americas Mike Verwilst is appointed vice president, Powertrain Systems - Americas. His responsibilities include all bearing, bushing, piston and ring operations in both North and South America. All aspects of business operations will report to him including advanced engineering, product engineering, manufacturing, sales and marketing. Prior to this appointment, Verwilst was vice president for Federal-Mogul's engine and transmission products, Americas. His career spans positions in engineering, sales and general management. Verwilst earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering/marketing from Michigan State University. Stefan Prigge, Director of Operations - Piston Rings, Powertrain Systems - Europe Stefan Prigge is appointed director of operations - piston rings, Powertrain Systems -Europe. His responsibilities include piston ring manufacturing and related activity in Germany, the United Kingdom, France and Italy. Prior to this appointment, Prigge held a similar role at T&N plc. His previous career experience includes roles in general management, logistics, production and university teaching. He spent several years working in electronics in Australia and before joining T&N was employed by BMW in Munich. Prigge earned a Doctorate degree and a Diploma in physics from the University of Clausthal in Germany. Peter Spahn, Director of Operations - Bearings, Powertrain Systems - Europe Peter Spahn is appointed director of operations - bearings, Powertrain Systems - Europe. His responsibilities include engine bearing, bushing, and washer manufacturing and associated activity, in Germany, France, Italy and Poland. Spahn, based at Federal-Mogul's plant in Wiesbaden, previously had partial manufacturing responsibility for German, French and Italian bearings operations. Spahn earned a Doctorate degree in mechanical engineering and a degree in economics and engineering from Darmstadt. Ian Darke, Director of Operations - Pistons, Powertrain Systems - Europe Ian Darke is appointed director of operations - pistons, Powertrain Systems - Europe. His responsibilities include piston manufacturing and related activity in the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Germany. Prior to this appointment, Darke held a similar role at T&N plc. He has held roles in economics, strategic planning, sales and marketing, as well as a number of general management positions in both the United Kingdom and Germany. Darke earned a Master of Science degree in economics, a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and politics, and a Diploma in business administration. Duraid Mahrus, Director of Product Engineering and Marketing, Powertrain Systems - Europe Duraid Mahrus is appointed director of product engineering and marketing, Powertrain Systems - Europe. His responsibilities include all research and development advanced engineering, product engineering and sales and marketing for automotive bearings, pistons and rings throughout the European operations. Mahrus joins Federal-Mogul from the position of vice president of business development for T&N plc's piston and ring activities in North America. He joined T&N as a result of its acquisition of Metal Leve Inc. His long-term career with Metal Leve covered wide ranging roles in technology, sales and general management with a strong international emphasis. Mahrus earned a Doctorate from Nottingham University in the United Kingdom and an engineering degree in Germany. Horst Muller, Director of Finance, Powertrain Systems - Europe Horst Muller is appointed director of finance, Powertrain Systems - Europe. His responsibilities will include all of the financial functions of the powertrain systems group operations in Europe. Prior to this appointment, Muller was Federal-Mogul's director of finance for all of its European bearing, aftermarket and sealing operations. He has extensive experience in all aspects of financial and management accounting within the automotive sector. Muller holds Germany accountancy qualifications and studied economics at Mainz. Neil Graham, Managing Director - Large Bearings, Powertrain Systems Neil Graham is appointed managing director - large bearings, Powertrain Systems. His responsibility for heavy wall and rotating plant bearings includes all business functions from engineering and manufacturing to sales and marketing. Operations are based in the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Germany. Graham joins Federal-Mogul in an expanded role from a similar position he held at T&N plc. Aside from general management experience, he has held a wide variety of technical and commercial roles within the bearings industry. Graham earned a Doctorate in engineering science and a Bachelor of Science degree in applied physics. Brian Ruddy, Director of Business Development, Powertrain Systems Brian Ruddy is appointed director of business development, Powertrain Systems. He will be responsible for joint venture activities worldwide with particular emphasis on Korea, India and China. Prior to this appointment, Ruddy has held a similar role for the piston product group of T&N plc. His wide ranging experience covers product development, sales and marketing, plant management and a variety of technical roles. Ruddy earned a Doctorate and a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. Kevin Thomas, Director of Human Resources, Powertrain Systems Kevin Thomas is appointed director of human resources, Powertrain Systems. His responsibility is to maintain and develop "best in class" human resource practices throughout this group with numerous operations located worldwide. Thomas joins Federal-Mogul from T&N plc where he held responsibility for European employee relations and piston products group human resource activity. Aside from human resources specialization, he has experience in logistics, quality, management information systems and general management. Thomas earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and sociology from Bristol University and is a fellow of the British Institute of Personnel Management. Jackie Parkhurst, Director of Quality, Federal-Mogul Jackie Parkhurst is appointed director of quality for Federal-Mogul's worldwide operations. She will have responsibility for the maintenance and development of the highest quality standards by coordinating the exchange of "best practice" and working in close liaison with Federal-Mogul's customer base. Reporting to Alan C. Johnson, executive vice president powertrain systems group, she will work equally across the other Federal-Mogul divisions, namely Sealing Systems, General Products and Worldwide Aftermarket. Prior to this appointment, Parkhurst was director of corporate quality at Federal-Mogul Corporation. Her career spans roles as director, quality assurance - manufacturing operations, and related quality and manufacturing positions. Parkhurst earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Illinois and a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and physics from Alma College in Alma, Michigan. Allan Welsh, Special Advisor Allan Welsh, who until the recent acquisition by Federal-Mogul, served on the T&N plc main board directory and was chief executive of its piston products group, will be a special advisor. Welsh will concentrate his activities in the coming months on the divestment of T&N's thin wall bearing operations and, in conjunction with Alan C. Johnson, the strategic development of piston and ring operations.
