Robbins-Gioia Automotive Achieves ISO 9001 Certification

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., March 20 -- Robbins-Gioia Automotive, the
division of Robbins-Gioia, Inc., that specializes in auto manufacturing
business processes, has received its ISO 9001 certification. R-G Automotive
provides major auto manufacturers and Tier I suppliers with program management
services that improve efficiency, time to market and overall product quality.
According to Barry Calogero, vice president and general manager of R-G
Automotive, the ISO certification is strong evidence of his team's commitment
to providing quality solutions to their customers.
"As the leader in program management solutions, we take pride in providing
continual improvement in product development," Calogero said, "and we've
always believed that Robbins-Gioia ranked among the best in the
world. This certification confirms our leadership position with the OEMs and
supplier community."
The ISO 9000 audit process was led by Paul Gunville, Robbins-Gioia's vice
president for special projects, who says the entire process spanned
approximately 12 months. Input came from various facets of the organization,
including sales, training, contracts, software development and administration.
"Integrating all the different components of our solution product sets was
a major effort on the part of a lot of people," Gunville said. "Ultimately,
everything went very smoothly and we are proud to have the ISO stamp of
approval."
The three-day ISO audit, conducted by NSF International Strategic
Registrations, Ltd., concluded on January 8, 1998. Auditor Julius Hein
commented that this audit contained the fewest non-conformances he has seen in
the 43 ISO audits he has done to date.
