Delphi Automotive Systems and Simula Automotive Safety Devices Enter Teaming Agreement for Side-Impact Head Protection System

    TROY, Mich., March 19 -- Delphi Automotive Systems and
Simula, Inc. announced today that Delphi and Simula Automotive
Safety Devices, Inc., have entered a teaming agreement to integrate Simula's
Inflatable Tubular Structure (ITS(R)) into Delphi's Advanced Safety Interior
technologies.
    Simula's ITS is an inflatable restraint designed to protect an automotive
occupant's head and neck in side-impact crashes.  Under the agreement, Delphi
will work with Simula ASD to develop applications for ITS, and to
commercialize the technology.
    Delphi's Advanced Safety Interior is an evolving portfolio of safety
features being designed to enhance occupant protection in frontal, side, rear
and rollover collisions.  With the agreement, Simula's head protection system
becomes part of that portfolio, and will be marketed to OEMs around the world.
