Federal-Mogul Honored as Preferred Vendor For 10th Consecutive Year by Jasper Engines & Transmissions

    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., March 18 -- Federal-Mogul Corporation
has received the 1997 Preferred Vendor Award from Jasper Engines &
Transmissions, headquartered in Jasper, Indiana.
    This is the 10th consecutive year Federal-Mogul's Malden, Missouri piston
manufacturing operation has earned this award.  Malden provides Jasper with
over 462,000 cast pistons annually and is being recognized as a result of
their superior performance in service, technical help, shipping and packaging.

    The Malden operation is a premier piston manufacturing facility providing
quality products primarily for the automotive and light truck aftermarket.
Current capabilities are 28,000 pistons produced each day ranging from small
air-cooled, agriculture and light-duty diesel to performance engine
applications.
