Federal-Mogul Honored by Ford for Zero Defects

    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., March 17 -- Federal-Mogul Corporation
was recognized by Ford Motor Company for outstanding
quality performance.
    The company received the award for "zero defects" in supplying over
400,000 bushings to Ford's Lima, Ohio Engine Plant for twelve consecutive
months for 1997.  The parts are manufactured at Federal-Mogul's St. Johns,
Michigan facility.
    "We are honored to receive this recognition as Ford's Lima facility holds
its suppliers to very stringent quality performance requirements," said Mike
Verwilst, vice president - powertrain systems - Americas.  "Our employees are
quality driven and customer focused.  They have all pulled together to achieve
our goal of zero defects."
    The St. Johns, Michigan facility manufactures precision bushings and
washers for a wide range of uses including automotive engines and
transmissions, farm and construction equipment, trucks and a variety of other
applications for original equipment and aftermarket customers.  The plant
currently manufactures and ships over one million pieces per day with 4,000
part numbers available.
    Headquartered in Southfield, Michigan, Federal-Mogul is a global

automobiles, light trucks, heavy trucks and farm and construction vehicles.
