Eight Oxford Automotive, Inc. Sites Achieve QS-9000 Certification

TROY, Mich., March 6 -- Oxford Automotive, Inc. announced
that eight of its facilities including the company's recently opened
technology center in Troy, Mich., have achieved QS-9000 certification.
Manufacturing sites in Alma, Mich.; Argos, Ind.; Cambridge, ONT.; Corydon,
Ind.; Greencastle, Ind.; Lapeer, Mich. and Masury, Ohio, in addition to the
Troy technology center, achieved registration in 1997.
"We are very proud of the Oxford employees that have contributed to this
achievement," said Mark Duddles, vice president of quality for Oxford
Automotive. "This commitment to product quality and continuous improvement
will provide the strong base necessary for Oxford to continue to grow and take
on increasingly complex modular systems business."
QS-9000 is the standard that reflects the quality expectations of General
Motors, Ford and Chrysler, and incorporates the requirements of the
international quality standard of ISO 9001. The QS-9000 certification process
involved an extensive audit of the company's overall operating systems by a
third party auditing company. Semi-annual audits must be successfully
completed in order to retain certification status.
QS-9000 is a quality system requirement for all suppliers doing business
with the North American automobile manufacturers. It commonizes the quality
assessment programs previously developed at General Motors, Ford and Chrysler
and focuses on fundamental practices that provide continuous improvement,
defect prevention, reduction of waste and variation in the supply chain.
Oxford Automotive, Inc., a privately held company based in Troy, Mich., is
a leading full service Tier 1 producer of engineered metal components,
assemblies and modules. It operates 14 manufacturing facilities in the United
States, Canada and Mexico, with state-of-the-art technologies in metal
stamping, roll-forming, welding and assembly equipment.
