Chrysler Reports February Sales

Chrysler International Sales Down 11 Percent In February

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., March 5 -- Chrysler
International reported that February sales of vehicles sold outside of North
America totaled 15,743 units, an 11 percent decrease over February 1997 sales
of 17,732 units.
    The depressed economies of the Asia-Pacific region continue to have a
negative impact on sales in that area, showing a 49 percent decrease last
month compared to the same period one year ago.
    Latin America sales remained strong, up 55 percent from a year ago.
Venezuela leads that region with sales of 2,015 vehicles, an increase of 97
percent compared to the same period a year ago.  All major markets in Latin
America are reporting double-digit growth in 1998.
    Total international sales year-to-date are 31,314 vehicles, down 11
percent compared to 35,098 vehicles a year ago.
