Autoliv Sells A Marling UnitSTOCKHOLM, March 5 -- Autoliv Inc. , a worldwide leader in automotive safety, has decided to sell Moxham Industrial Pty Ltd, a non-core business for Autoliv within the recently acquired Marling Industries plc group. An agreement to this effect has been reached with the French company Christian Dalloz S.A., a world's leading manufacturer of Fall Protection and similar safety equipment. Moxham is a leading Fall Protection and sling manufacturer in Australia with annual sales of $A 8.5 million (approx. US $6 million). The sale of Moxham is expected to have only a marginal positive effect on Autoliv's cash position. The main business of the Marling group, which Autoliv acquired in October last year, is seat belt webbing for automobiles. The deal has already been approved by the Australian Foreign Investment Review Board and completion will take place on or before March 11. Autoliv Inc. develops and manufactures automotive safety systems for all major automotive manufacturers in the world. The company has more than 60 wholly-owned subsidiaries and joint ventures with close to 20,000 employees in 27 vehicle-producing countries. Autoliv has 19 test tracks, more than any other automotive safety supplier. Sales in 1997 totaled US $3.3 billion. The company's shares are listed on the New York Stock Exchange , its Swedish Depositary Receipts on the Stockholm Stock Exchange (SSE: ALIV) and its stock options on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE: ALV).
