Nissan Donates Frontier Trucks To American Red Cross for Florida Relief EffortsORLANDO, Fla. March 4 -- Nissan Motor Corporation, USA today donated four Nissan Frontier trucks to help the American Red Cross distribute emergency relief supplies to thousands of Floridians victimized by tornadoes in recent days. The four white King Cab Frontiers were delivered to the Marine Reserve Center at 595 North Primrose Street in Orlando. "Once again, Nissan has come through for the American Red Cross and those families affected by disasters," said Sumner Hutcheson III, Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross of Central Florida. "Nissan's generous contribution will enable the Red Cross to distribute effectively emergency relief to families in need." The trucks will be used to transport urgently needed supplies from Red Cross warehouses to Red Cross relief centers in affected areas. They will also be used to support transportation of food for affected families and workers to Red Cross kitchens; to transport donated goods and supplies to agencies and selected sites for distribution and to provide ongoing support for Red Cross relief for future disasters in this community and throughout Central Florida. Like any good neighbor, we pitch in during times of need," said Thomas Hushek, Nissan's Regional Vice President. "We are honored to be part of the impressive group of organizations contributing to the relief efforts." In 1997, Nissan donated over $800,000 to the American Red Cross. In recent years, Nissan also supported relief efforts in the aftermath of floods in Chicago, the Blizzard of 1996 and Hurricane Fran. Nissan employs 73,000 Americans and has invested more than $2 billion in the United States to build facilities for design, research and development, manufacturing, sales and related operations. Nearly 70 percent of the Nissan trucks and cars sold in America are built in America. Additionally, Nissan purchases over $4.2 billion in parts and materials each year from U.S. suppliers.
