Dollar Rent A Car Acquires San Diego Location

    TULSA, Okla., March 4 -- Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group,
Inc. announced that its subsidiary, Dollar Rent A Car Systems,
Inc., recently purchased the Dollar(R) location in San Diego, California, from
Rainbow Oosik, Inc., its former licensee.  The approximate $1.5 million
acquisition is effective immediately.
    "This acquisition adds the 15th largest airport operation to the more than
100 corporate-owned Dollar sites located throughout the United States," Gary
Paxton, Dollar President and CEO said.  "Acquiring the San Diego location is
consistent with our strategy to be a corporate presence in the top 50
markets."
    The San Diego operation reported 1997 revenue of more than $8 million and
has an average  fleet of approximately 800 vehicles.
    "The San Diego location acquisition complements our existing southern
California corporate operations," Paxton said.  "It will facilitate the
movement of vehicles from one California location to another and enhance the
service we provide our customers."
    Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group owns Dollar Rent A Car and Thrifty Car
Rental.  Dollar has approximately 370 worldwide locations in 26 countries,
including 230 locations in the United States and offers service at an
additional 2,386 locations in Europe through its alliance with Europcar
International.  Dollar has suburban and on-airport locations at all major
airports nationwide.  In addition, it has presence in Canada, the Caribbean
and Latin America.  Dollar and its licensees have a fleet of more than 65,000
vehicles.  Founded in 1966 in Los Angeles, California, its worldwide
headquarters are located in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
