Lexus Reports February Sales

Lexus Reports 43.3 Percent Increase in Sales; Best-Ever Sales for February

    TORRANCE, Calif., March 3 -- Lexus today reported its best-
ever February, posting sales of 9,730, a 43.3 percent increase over last
February.  Leading the charge was the ES 300 with best-ever February sales of
5,018, an increase of 21.6 percent over last year.
    The all-new GS 400/300 luxury sports sedan continues its unprecedented
growth with February sales of 2,488, up 29 percent from last month.  The
flagship LS 400 posted sales of 1,869, which represents a 23.4 percent
increase from last February.
    Lexus looks forward to March with great anticipation as it launches the
RX 300 on March 20 and the LX 470 on March 17.  Well before the vehicles are
on showroom floors, dealers report 4,434 pre-sold orders for the RX 300 and
1,555 orders for the LX 470.
    "So far, Lexus is having an amazing year, and we haven't introduced our
SUVs yet," said Jim Press, Lexus senior vice president and general manager.
"With ES 300's continued outstanding sales, the GS series' popularity and the
launch of the RX 300 and LX 470, the rest of the year is going to be even
stronger."
    Lexus year-to-date sales of 17,791 represents a 23.1 percent increase from
last year.
