UT Automotive, Saturn Electronics & Engineering to Form Strategic AllianceDEARBORN, Mich., Feb. 27 -- UT Automotive, a United Technologies company, today announced it has signed an agreement forming a strategic alliance with Saturn Electronics & Engineering, Inc., a minority business enterprise based in Auburn Hills, Mich. Saturn Electronics & Engineering has organized a company -- named Saturn Electronics Texas, LLC -- to produce battery cables, bond straps and trailer tows, as well as battery cable service. UT Automotive will invest in and acquire a minority interest in the company. Saturn Electronics & Engineering has 1,100 employees, operates businesses in the United States, Monterrey, Mexico and Beijing, China, and has affiliates in South America and Western Europe. The new company, Saturn Electronics Texas, plans to begin operating a maquiladora immediately at a facility in Juarez, Mexico. "We're very excited to be involved with a global minority supplier," said Ed Buker, president of UT Automotive's Electrical Systems Americas (ESA) organization. "We will support Saturn Electronics Texas in their efforts to serve our current customers, and to serve new markets in both the automotive and non-automotive sectors."
