Hayes Receives Steel Wheel Contract for New Volkswagen Beetle

    ROMULUS, Mich., Feb. 25 -- Hayes Lemmerz International, Inc.
, one of the world's leading manufacturers of wheels and brake
components to original equipment manufacturers, announced today that it has
received a contract from Volkswagen to supply fabricated steel wheels for
worldwide use on the new Volkswagen Beetle.  The terms of the agreement were
not disclosed.
    The wheels are being produced at the company's manufacturing facility in
Mexico City.  Shipments will begin later this spring.
