UT Automotive Names Yoshida Managing Director, JapanDEARBORN, Mich., Feb. 25 -- Masatsugu (Matt) Yoshida has been named to the newly established position of managing director - Japan, at UT Automotive, a United Technologies company. The announcement was made by Al Winslow, president of UT Automotive's Asia-Pacific Operations (APO). Yoshida, 57, will direct UT Automotive's sales and logistics functions in Japan, as well as represent the company to its Japanese-based customers and business affiliates. He will relocate from the United States to the company's Tokyo office. "Matt's extensive experience in the automotive industry, as well as his previous accomplishments in winning new Asian business and increasing sales in that region will support our company's goals to grow our business and expand our Asia-Pacific Operations' customer base," said Winslow. "His industry knowledge and skills will be key as we expand our engineering, manufacturing and sales presence in this developing region." A 21-year veteran of the automotive industry, Yoshida joined UT Automotive from BAICO, a joint venture between AlliedSignal and Atlantic Research Corp., where he had served since 1996 as director of marketing and sales for the Far East. Prior to BAICO, he was with AlliedSignal and its predecessor company, Bendix, for 18 years in numerous strategic planning, sales and business development positions in Japan and the Detroit area. Yoshida, a native of Japan, earned his undergraduate degree in economics from Keio University and a master of business administration degree from Indiana University in the United States. UT Automotive is a $3 billion tier-one supplier of electrical, electronic and interior trim systems and components to car and light truck manufacturers. Based in Dearborn, Mich., the company has 40,000 employees and 90 manufacturing plants in 18 countries throughout North and South America, Europe and Asia.
