ITT Automotive Introduces Electronic Stability Program, Innovations in Systems and Modules at SAE '98

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Feb. 19 -- ITT Automotive will introduce
Significant innovations in systems, sensors and stability management at the
1998 SAE International Congress and Exposition at Cobo Center in Detroit
(Booth #2129).
On Monday, February 23, ITT Automotive senior engineer Phil Headley will
provide interested media with a brief technical overview of the Electronic
Stability Program (ESP) and simulator demonstrations of this exciting new
safety technology. The briefing will take place from 2:45 until approximately
3:15 p.m. in ITT Automotive's display area (booth #2129). Media and showgoers
will have a first-hand opportunity to experience ESP using the world's most
sophisticated and realistic ESP simulator at ITT Automotive's booth during the
show.
    Recent developments include:

    Safety
    * Brake Assist, Brake by Wire, Electronic Stability Program, Intelligent
Cruise Control and ABS Plus -- advances in vehicle control and safety.

    Convenience
    * Park Assist -- provides an acoustic message to drivers to warn them of
obstacles hidden from view. Once an obstacle is detected, the system will
sound a tone that becomes continuous at a distance of about 10 in., or 25 cm.

    Electronics
    * Steering Angle Sensor with Integrated Clock Spring -- steering angle
sensor which measures absolute steering wheel angle and rate of angle change.

    Air and Thermal Management
    * Hydraulic Engine Cooling -- through systems integration, delivers
improved engine and air conditioning cooling during idle and heavy load
conditions.

ITT Automotive is also currently engaged in a national safe driving
initiative -- "Drive Safer America!" -- which is designed to educate consumers
about the benefits of safe driving habits and the proper use of anti-lock
brakes and other safety technologies.
