Avis Rent A Car, Inc. to Offer The Wall Street Journal To Avis Preferred Customers

    GARDEN CITY, N.Y., Feb. 19 -- Avis Rent A Car, Inc.
today announced a two-year agreement with Dow Jones & Company,
Inc. to offer daily distribution of The Wall Street Journal to all
Avis Preferred Renters in the top 23 Preferred Renter markets throughout the
United States.
    Under the terms of this agreement, which is effective immediately, Avis
will receive a daily shipment of The Wall Street Journal for distribution to
Preferred Renters at the 23 Avis locations included in the initial phase of
the program.  Dow Jones and Avis plan to expand this service to include other
Avis locations after this initial program is underway.
    The initial locations are:  Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago,
Cleveland, Denver, Detroit, Ft. Lauderdale, Houston, Kansas City, Las Vegas,
Los Angeles, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Newark, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San
Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, St. Louis, and Washington D.C.
    Ron Masini, vice president of product and program development for Avis

    William E. Casey, vice president of circulation for The Wall Street

business customers with a convenient new way to get the Journal when they

    The Avis Preferred Renter Program is a service that allows customers to
bypass the rental counter and go directly to their car.  It adds a new level
