DuPont Automotive Launches Home Page; Site Debuts With SAE Product Information, Events

    TROY, Mich., Feb. 17 -- DuPont Automotive has launched one of
the industry's first materials Web sites dedicated exclusively to automotive
applications at http://www.dupont.com/automotive. The site debuted with a special
section on the SAE International Congress and Exposition, featuring DuPont
products to be displayed at the show in Detroit, Feb. 23-26, as well as links
to the SAE show site and Detroit-area sites highlighting local attractions for
out-of-town visitors.
    The site provides easy-to-access information about DuPont materials used
in automotive applications. For simple navigation, site visitors can click on
any major automotive system (body interior, body exterior, chassis/fuel,
electrical/electronics, finishes or powertrain) to explore DuPont applications
in that area. Other key features of the site include:
    * A section that highlights several DuPont materials that have provided
cost-savings to automotive customers;
    * An OEM specifications guide, which lists DuPont materials that
currently meet automotive OEM specifications;
    * Links to detailed product and technical information at other DuPont
sites; and
    * An electronic inquiry form that allows visitors to request additional
information.
    "The launch of the DuPont Automotive home page on the Internet recognizes
that our automotive customers need easy access to application-specific
information," said J. Erik Fyrwald, DuPont Automotive director of Engineering
Materials. "With this Web site, we hope to do more than provide a list of
materials and their properties. Our goal is to spark ideas for cost and
weight savings, innovations and solutions to the challenges facing today's
automotive industry."
    The DuPont Automotive Web site can be accessed directly at
http://www.dupont.com/automotive or through the DuPont Company corporate home page at
http://www.dupont.com.
    With world headquarters in Troy, Mich., DuPont Automotive offers more than
100 product lines to the global automotive industry, including plastics,
advanced composites, finishes, fibers, fabricated products, refrigerants,
specialty chemicals and lubricants. DuPont worldwide automotive sales were $4
billion in 1997.
