Jacques A. Nasser, President, Ford Automotive Operations Will Address The 1998 New York International Auto Show

WHITESTONE, N.Y., Feb. 13 -- Jacques A. Nasser, the head of
all automotive operations for the Ford Motor Corporation and a
30-year veteran of the international automotive world, will be the featured
speaker at the 1998 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). Mr. Nasser will
address the assembled media and manufacturer representatives at 8:30am, an
Wednesday, April 8, 1998 at the traditional NYIAS/International Motor Press
Association (IMPA) breakfast. In his remarks, Mr. Nasser will discuss Ford's
attentive focus on quality, cost, speed, and shareholder value.
Before assuming the post of executive vice president and president - Ford
Automotive Operations on November 1, 1996, Mr. Nasser served as group vice
president - Product Development, Ford Automotive Operations for two years. He
was elected chairman of the board, Ford of Europe, and a Ford Motor Company
vice president on January 1, 1993.
In 1987, Mr. Nasser was appointed the first director - vice president of
Finance and Administration for Autolatina, the joint venture with Volkswagen
in Brazil and Argentina. He was also responsible for developing a business
and operating plan for Ford's Hermosillo (Mexico) Assembly Plant in 1983 and
developed and assisted in the negotiation of Ford's South African joint
venture program in 1982.
Gary Schimmerling, president of the Greater New York Automobile Dealers
Association (GNYADA), the organization that owns and manages the Show,
believes that Mr. Nasser's appearance will serve as a great kick-off to the
1998 NYIAS. "It is always a privilege to have one of the nation's most senior
automotive executives address the Show. Mr. Nasser is truly a 'global'
executive -- having worked for Ford on four different continents -- and his
considerable experience with all types of industry issues should make for a
timely and stimulating NYIAS/IMPA breakfast speech."
Mr. Nasser holds Australian citizenship and received a degree in business
studies from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Fluent in English,
Arabic, Spanish and Portuguese, Mr. Nasser joined Ford of Australia in 1968 as
a financial analyst. Since 1973 he has held positions with Ford's North
American Truck Operations in the U.S. and with Ford's International Automotive
Operations (IAO) in a number of capacities.
The NYIAS/IMPA breakfast is a longstanding tradition that functions as an
introduction to the two press days of the 1998 NYIAS. More than a dozen
World, National, and Regional vehicle debuts are expected at the 1998 Show.
Attendance at the 1997 New York International Automobile Show surpassed 1.1
million, for the 9th consecutive year. In addition, more than 3,200 members
of the media attended the Show. Expectations are for increased press and
public attendance in 1998.
