First Edition of AAMA Trade Report Highlights Rising U.S. Auto ExportsWASHINGTON, Feb. 11 -- The American Automobile Manufacturers Association (AAMA) today unveiled the first edition of its "Global Automotive Trade Report," a monthly publication containing new information and updates on a variety of subjects that have a bearing on world trade in motor vehicles. "As the recent Asian financial crisis has shown, trade policies and events in one nation or region may have a great impact elsewhere in the world," said AAMA President & CEO Andrew H. Card, Jr. "Through the new 'Global Automotive Trade Report,' America's Car Companies hope to provide timely and useful information on many of these policies and events." Filled with news, informative charts and graphs, each month's "Global Automotive Trade Report" will feature "Country Focus," AAMA's renowned "Japan Report" and "What Others Are Saying," a roundup of trade-related quotes. The February edition's top story is that America's Car Companies' exports of assembled vehicles set a new record last year, despite exchange rate pressures in Asia and other markets. "Country Focus" puts Chile in automakers' trade spotlight. And "What Others Are Saying" includes a frank recognition by the president of Kanagawa Toyota Sales that Japanese dealership reforms "are very slow compared with what's taken place in the U.S." To obtain a copy of "Global Automotive Trade Report," contact Scott Kennedy at 202-326-5534.
