Ruling Favors Nissan Decision to Terminate Newport News Dealer

    HERNDON, Va., Feb. 10 -- Statement by Nissan North America in
response to today's finding by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicle
Hearing Officer supporting Nissan's decision to terminate its dealer franchise
agreement with Bob Crumpler, owner of Denbigh Nissan Ltd., of Newport News,
Va.:

    "Today's opinion is a victory for the citizens of Newport News.  Nissan is
gratified the Hearing Officer provided a fair, objective and proper
recommendation based on the facts in this case.  While a decision has not yet
been rendered by the Commissioner, Nissan is optimistic that justice and the
precepts of human decency will prevail."
