Federal-Mogul Announces Senior Executive Appointments

    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Feb. 4 -- Federal-Mogul
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dick Snell announces a new organizational
structure with the appointments of four executive vice presidents, effective
upon closure of the company's previously announced acquisitions of T&N plc and
Fel-Pro, Incorporated:
    *  Alan C. Johnson, executive vice president - Powertrain Systems
    *  Paul R. Lederer, executive vice president - Worldwide Aftermarket
    *  Wilhelm A. Schmelzer, executive vice president - Sealing Systems
    *  Frank Tomes, executive vice president - General Products

    At the same time, Snell announced the appointment of Alan R. Begg to the
newly created position of vice president - Technology.  All appointments
report to Snell.
    "We have pulled together the top talent from Federal-Mogul, Fel-Pro and
T&N to lead our new organization," said Snell.  "These professionals exemplify
the all-star team approach we will take towards our upcoming integration to
form the new Federal-Mogul."

    Alan C. Johnson, Executive Vice President - Powertrain Systems
    As executive vice president of Powertrain Systems, Johnson will be
responsible for the global operations of engine bearings, bushings, washers,
pistons, piston rings, piston pins and liners for both original equipment and
aftermarket customers.  Powertrain Systems will be a $2 billion business unit.
    Prior to his promotion, Johnson, 49, was executive vice president
responsible for the company's worldwide manufacturing and international
aftermarket operations.  He had served the company in various key leadership
roles including: president of operations; vice president, powertrain
operations - Americas; vice president and general manager, oil seal
operations; and general manager, oil seal operations.
    Johnson earned a Master of Business Administration from Wayne State
University and earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the
University of Michigan.

    Paul R. Lederer, Executive Vice President - Worldwide Aftermarket
    As executive vice president of Worldwide Aftermarket, Lederer will be
responsible for the company's global aftermarket business.
    Prior to this appointment, Lederer, 58, was president and chief operating
officer of Fel-Pro Incorporated.  Before joining Fel-Pro, he was a consultant
to several automotive parts companies while serving on the Board of Directors
of Ozark/O'Reilly Automotive, Fullerton Metals and Trans-Pro Corporation.
    Lederer has served in senior leadership positions at various automotive
companies including:  executive vice president of Stant; chairman and chief
executive officer of Epicor Industries, Incorporated; and at Parker Hannifin,
Lederer served as president, automotive group; group vice president -
operations; and general manager Edelmann Division.  Prior to this, Lederer was
executive vice president of E. Edelmann & Company.
    Lederer earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois
and a Juris Doctor from the Northwestern School of Law.  He also attended the
Kellogg Graduate Business School of Management at Northwestern University.

    Wilhelm A. Schmelzer, Executive Vice President - Sealing Systems
    As executive vice president of Sealing Systems, Schmelzer will be
responsible for global operations for gaskets and seals for both original
equipment and aftermarket customers.  Sealing Systems will be a $1 billion
business unit.
    Prior to this promotion, Schmelzer, 57, was vice president and group
executive responsible for Federal-Mogul's engine and transmission products
worldwide since 1995.  In addition, he assumed in 1997 responsibility for
Federal-Mogul's aftermarket operation in Europe. Schmelzer has served Federal-
Mogul as: vice president and group executive, engine and transmission products
- Europe; general manager of both the international and domestic engine and
transmission products operations; and general manager of Federal-Mogul's
manufacturing operations in Spain and Mexico.
    Schmelzer received his degree in accounting and finance as a "Diplom
Betriebswirt" from the Fachhochschule in Colgne, Germany.  He also attended
Albion College in Albion, Michigan as a fellow of the Carl Duisberg
Foundation.

    Frank Tomes, Executive Vice President - General Products
    As executive vice president - General Products, Tomes will be responsible
for friction products, camshafts, composites, sintered metals, fuel system
components, lighting, chassis and protective sleeving products.  General
Products will be a $2 billion business unit.
    Prior to this appointment, Tomes, 55, was chief executive for the
Composites and Camshafts Group of T&N plc.  During his tenure at T&N, Tomes
served in key management positions with various product divisions including:
Friction Products Division, BIP chemicals, T.Glass Fibres, TBA Belting and
Tenmat.  Outside of T&N, Tomes worked in a variety of roles in heavy
engineering.
    Tomes has a Bachelor of Science in chemistry, a Ph.D. in physical
chemistry from Birmingham University, and a Master of Business Administration
from Cranfield University School of Management in the United Kingdom.

    Alan R. Begg, Vice President - Technology
    As vice president - Technology, Begg is responsible for Federal-Mogul's
advanced technology and research activities including new product and
materials development worldwide.
    Prior to this appointment, Begg, 43, served as managing director of T&N
Technology.  At T&N's BP Metal Composites, Begg held increasing levels of
responsibilities including general manager, sales director and business
manager.  At the group's BP Research Center, Begg was a senior research
scientist before becoming project leader for advance engineering materials
development.
    Begg graduated from Cambridge University with a Ph.D. in metallurgy and
materials science with First Class Honours in natural sciences.
    Headquartered in Southfield, Michigan, Federal-Mogul is a global
manufacturer of a broad range of non-discretionary parts primarily for
automobiles, light trucks, heavy trucks, and farm and construction vehicles.
