BMW Group Reports January 1998 Sales; Seven Percent Increase Posted; BMW Records Best January Ever
WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Feb. 3 -- BMW Group reported
consolidated retail sales of 10,345 vehicles for January 1998, an increase of
7 percent over Group sales of 9,673 recorded a year ago.
BMW of North America, Inc. announced its best January ever with passenger
car sales of 9,038, compared to 8,248 vehicles sold a year ago, an increase of
10 percent. Sales of BMW's highest volume model, the 528i, increased from
1,328 a year ago to 2,523, or 90 percent, reflecting strong inventories of
that popular vehicle. Sales of BMW's 7 Series models increased 14 percent,
from 1,262 a year ago to 1,444.
Land Rover North America, Inc. reported January sales of 1,307 vehicles,
compared to 1,425 a year ago, a decrease of 8 percent.
