American Honda Sets January Sales Record
TORRANCE, Calif., Feb. 3 -- American Honda started off 1998
just like it finished 1997, with a new sales record. January sales of 64,130
were up 8.1 percent from last year and broke the '97 record, according to
sales figures released today by American Honda Motor Company, Inc.
Total truck sales also set a new January record. Sales of 7,486 more than
doubled the '97 number and were led by the popular CR-V.
Honda Division had its best January ever with 58,010 sales, up 10.2
percent. The new Accord continued its strong showing with 27,117 sales, up
11.5 percent from last year's levels.
The Acura TL was up 9.1 percent with 1,427 sales. Total January sales for
Acura Division were down 8.2 percent.
