Republic Industries/Reynolds and Reynolds Establish Multi-Year Technology Agreement; Reynolds to Provide Technology Solutions to AutoNation Sites

    DAYTON, Ohio, Feb. 2 -- The following release was issued on
January 29, 1998:

    The Reynolds and Reynolds Company and Republic Industries Inc.
, announced today the establishment of a multi-year technology
agreement.
    Under the agreement, Reynolds will be a key provider of technology
solutions for AutoNation superstores, regional reconditioning centers and
select new car dealerships.
    Scott Barrett, CIO for Republic attributed the agreement to Reynolds' hard
work and commitment to Republic's Retail Division throughout the past year.
"Reynolds has established a first-rate team that's focused on providing us
with the solutions we need."  Karen McKernie, Republic senior vice president,
Information Technology for Republic's Retail Division, added, "Reynolds has
demonstrated the ability to deliver solutions quickly to support our rapid
expansion, while also driving our overall costs down."
    Bob Nevin, president, Reynolds' Automotive Division, said, "This is
further confirmation that our decision to move forward with our Enterprise
Solutions Group, which concentrates solely on the activities of new entrants
and other non-traditional automotive solutions needs, balanced with our
traditional core dealer business approach, is clearly what the market is
embracing."
