Autoweb.com Signs Exclusive Agreement With CBS Sportsline

    SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 2 -- Autoweb.com, the industry's
leading online car buying service, will become the exclusive auto classifieds
provider on CBS Sportsline, one of the Web's most highly trafficked sports
sites. Autoweb.com will have a dominant presence in auto-related content,
such as NASCAR and Formula One racing stories and forums.
This exclusive agreement will further extend awareness for the Autoweb.com
brand among key audiences, including automotive racing and sport aficionados.
The partnership also supports the site's overall move to integrate with other
car-related sites and become a one-stop automotive enthusiast community,
elevating its reach far beyond just car buying and selling.
"This new deal is yet another supporting element of our campaign to bring
the benefits of our Autoweb.com to millions of consumers on the Internet,"
said Payam Zamani, co-founder of Autoweb.com. "We believe that leadership is
all about creating the best online car buying service and making that service
easily accessible to all target audiences. Through an array of strategic
third-party partnerships, such as this affiliation with CBS Sportsline, that's
exactly what we've done."
CBS Sportsline users will be able to connect to Autoweb.com through a
fixed button link in the Auto Racing area and in the Sportsline Score Center.
The company is also considering further co-operative arrangements with
Sportsline, including possible co-promotions and co-branding. The deal will
begin immediately.
This new partnership is one of many recent brand alignments that have
brought Autoweb.com to the forefront of the industry. In the fall of 1997,
Autoweb.com was the first online service to receive 1,000,000 purchase
request, a crucial indicator to the site's popularity among Net consumers.
The service also is a six time recipient of PC Magazine's "Top 100 Award" --
one of the only sites on the Internet to be recognized with this prestigious
honor for six straight quarters -- and is the preferred independent online car
buying site, according to user traffic statistics listed by Web 21's "Hot 100"
sites.
In addition to increased consumer and industry awareness, the company has
grown exponentially in the last year, has increased its dealer membership from
200 to more than 1,800 since 1996, and has enhanced its monthly purchase
request flow from 15,000 in January 1997 to more than 230,000 in December.
And in yet another testament to Autoweb's market leadership, an astonishing
eight percent of all car buyers in the United States now visit the Autoweb.com
site before making their car purchase.
    Founded in November 1994, Autoweb.com ( http://www.autoweb.com ) is the
leading online brand for new and used cars, where informed, motivated buyers
are put in touch with an exclusive network of the highest ranking dealers in
the U.S. and Canada. Using Autoweb.com, consumers can inquire about car
availability and pricing, secure a loan, finalize their purchase, schedule
delivery, or advertise their used car for sale.
