Lawrence C. Pentz Appointed President of Johnson Matthey's Catalytic Systems Division, North America

    WAYNE, Pa., Jan. 29 -- Lawrence C. Pentz has been appointed
president of Johnson Matthey's Catalytic Systems Division, North America.  The
division is the world's leading supplier of environmental emission control
catalyst systems designed for use in a wide variety of combinations with
precious metals.
    Pentz previously was general manager and director of operations for
Johnson Matthey's Precious Metals Division, which he joined in 1984 as a
production manager for the Chemicals Group.
    Pentz, who will work out of the division's headquarters at Wayne, PA, was
awarded an MBA in Finance in 1983 from Seton Hall University and is also a
graduate of Georgia Tech where he received a BS in chemical engineering.
    Pentz said he will work to continue expanding the division's contributions
to global air quality through its existing technology, speeding transfer of
new division technology to the marketplace, and strengthening the working
relationship among the division's manufacturing and research and technical
centers.
    The Catalytic Systems Division has been a leading developer and supplier
of automotive emission control catalyst technology since the 1970s.
    The division has shipped more than 225 million auto catalysts since then.
The division is also a leader in the development and supply of lean NOx
catalyst technology to control emissions from diesel and other stationary
engines, and diesel emission control technology for vehicles.
    The Catalytic Systems Division has twelve major facilities including eight
global manufacturing facilities and four technical centers strategically
located to support its global business.
