EDS Displays an Array of Integrated Automotive Retail Systems And Services at NADA '98

TROY, Mich., Jan. 29 -- EDS will exhibit an array
of highly integrated systems and services at the National Automobile Dealers
Association (NADA) in New Orleans, January 31 through February 3.
Some of the latest applications being featured include a new service
scheduling and technician dispatching system; a new customer prospecting
system to manage customer relationships; a portable sales tool that puts new
and used vehicle inventory in the palm of a salesperson's hand, and a bar
coding system that allows automotive dealers to easily maintain vehicle
inventory.
EDS, one of the world's largest systems integrators, offers automotive
retailers a total information management system -- integrating major business
processes such as those used in new and used vehicle showrooms, parts
departments, service departments, and business offices to improve
productivity.
"With our extensive experience and capabilities, we can help retailers
integrate the key elements of their operation to improve their business
performance," said Bernie Johnson, vice president, EDS Automotive Retail
Group. "EDS provides automotive retailers, manufacturers, and vendors with
information management solutions to meet their business needs. We are
committed to helping automotive retailers identify, create, and deliver more
value for their technology investment."
EDS integrates proven systems and technologies with new technologies such
as the Internet, bar coding, optical storage, object-oriented applications,
and automated language and currency conversion to help retailers run a more
productive and profitable operation.
Some of the products on display in the EDS exhibit this year include:

Scheduling and Dispatching System -- Helps retailers automate customer
appointments and dispatch work to technicians, making service department
management quicker and more efficient.

VINnet(TM) -- Allows retailers to register and title new and used
vehicles, transfer plates, and verify vehicle and driver information 24 hours
a day, seven days a week. License plates and decals are kept right at the
facility so retailers are able to provide eligible customer and metal plates
and registration documents on the spot.

SalesLink(TM) -- Uses the latest in portable computer technology to
provide retailers with the most accurate, up-to-date information on their new
and used vehicle inventory, both on and off the sales floor.

Vehicle Inventory Navigator -- Allows retailers to track vehicle inventory
with the help of the latest bar coding technology. By scanning vehicles and
locations, the system helps retailers move quickly through inventory to
determine new, sold, missing, or moved vehicles.

Document Manager(TM) -- Streamlines document handling by electronically
storing, retrieving, distributing, and reproducing, both system and scanned
documents such as sales contracts, service orders, accounts receivable
statements and more.

EZforms(TM) -- Lets retailers use a laser printer to create virtually all
forms quickly and easily on plain paper, eliminating the expense and storage
space associated with preprinted forms.

Parts Imager(R) 2 -- Helps retailers improve efficiency and profitability
in the parts department by finding parts quickly and accurately with just a
few keystrokes. Integration with inventory control and parts ordering systems
can help eliminate errors caused by rekeying.
