Sloan, Heuzeroth Named to UT Automotive Leadership Positions

DEARBORN, Mich., Jan. 28 -- UT Automotive President Scott
Greer today announced two key appointments to his leadership team:
    * Richard Sloan has been named president, Interior Systems International
(ISI). Sloan, who had been serving as president of UT Automotive's European
operations, will be responsible for directing the company's interiors business
worldwide.
    * Volker Heuzeroth has been named president of UT Automotive - Europe,
succeeding Sloan. Heuzeroth, who has been UT Automotive's senior vice
president - Europe, will be responsible for overseeing the operation and
growth of all of UT Automotive - Europe. He also will ensure integration of
the European organization's activities into the company's overall worldwide
business strategies.
Greer, in making the announcement, said Sloan has the experience,
knowledge and expertise needed for this important leadership position as UT
Automotive expands its interiors operation worldwide.
"This move solidifies our position as a key player in the interiors
business, and demonstrates our commitment to growth and expansion of our
interiors capabilities," Greer said. "Dick Sloan is a recognized industry
leader who has done a tremendous job of providing leadership and direction to
our European operations. His knowledge of the automotive business and
experience at directing global programs will help us expand our interiors
business worldwide and strengthen our position as one of the industry leaders
in the areas of integrated systems and modules."
Greer said Heuzeroth, who has been responsible for all of UT Automotive's
business activities in Central Europe and the United Kingdom, is well-
qualified to succeed Sloan as the leader of UT Automotive's European
operation.
"Volker has demonstrated strong teamwork, communications skills and
leadership abilities while dedicating himself to quality and customer
satisfaction," Greer said. "I am confident that he will help us continue to
grow our European operations."
Sloan joined UT Automotive in 1981 as manager of cost and price control.
He became vice president, controller, in 1985; vice president, operations, in
1986; and Interiors vice president, finance, in 1990. He was appointed
president of Hose Fittings & Industrial Products in 1991, and became vice
president and chief financial officer (CFO) of UTA-Europe in 1993. He was
named president, UTA-Europe, that same year.
Before joining UT Automotive, Sloan spent 17 years with Chrysler Corp.,
where he held several key positions in corporate finance and planning,
including his last position as controller.
"I am looking forward to returning to the United States and leading UT
Automotive's ISI organization," Sloan said. "This is a great opportunity to
help the company provide our interiors business customers with innovative
products and solutions anywhere in the world."
Sloan replaces Ed Northern, who has chosen to pursue other business
opportunities.
"Ed Northern came to UT Automotive at a very difficult time for our
interiors operation," Greer said. "It is no secret that our interiors
business has presented major challenges to us over the last few years, and Ed
has been instrumental in the organization's turnaround. We are very grateful
for the job Ed has done these past few years, and we wish him well in all of
his future endeavors."
Heuzeroth joined UT Automotive in 1993 as managing director, Central
Europe, and was named senior vice president, Europe, in 1995. His previous
experience includes four years as executive vice president at Happich, and 23
years in a variety of sales, marketing and senior management positions with
Reinshagen/Packard Electric.
"I welcome the opportunity to lead UT Automotive's European operation,"
Heuzeroth said. "Our objectives are to continuously improve our business and
support our company's objectives to be a seamless organization that is
recognized as one dynamic company to customers around the world."
