Borg-Warner Automotive Air/Fluid Systems' Water Valley Plant Achieves QS-9000 CertificationWATER VALLEY, Miss., Jan. 27 -- Borg-Warner Automotive Air/Fluid Systems Corporation has received its QS-9000 and ISO-9001 quality certification for the company's operations in Water Valley, Miss., in cooperation with its Advanced Technology Center in Warren, Mich. The announcement was made by Travis Clement, Plant Manager of Borg-Warner Automotive Air/Fluid Systems, Water Valley, Miss. Travis Clement said, "Attaining QS-9000 and ISO-9001 certification is the result of employee teamwork at its greatest, the culmination of many hours of dedication both here and in Warren. Meeting the requirements to achieve this certification positions this facility for future business opportunities with the automotive industry." Borg-Warner Automotive Air/Fluid Systems delivers state-of-the-art systems and components to original equipment manufacturers worldwide. Areas of expertise include air management systems, automatic transmission solenoids, oil pumps, and vapor management products. QS-9000 is short for "Quality System Requirements QS-9000," a worldwide common supplier quality standard for Chrysler Corporation, Ford Motor Company, and General Motors. Based on the 1994 edition of ISO-9001, QS-9000 encompasses these standards, as well as additional requirements particular to the automotive industry. The Water Valley, Miss., plant along with the Warren, Mich. Advanced Technology Center began the QS-9000 and ISO-9001 certification process approximately 16 months ago. The company was officially awarded its certification by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., a third party auditing firm, on December 16, 1997.
