Saab Licenses CST Jacada Product Line For Its Computerized Retailer Network

Deployment of Java-based GUI to Coincide with April Launch of Saab's New
                                 Product Line

ATLANTA, Jan. 26 -- CST Inc., based in Atlanta, GA, today
announced that Saab Cars USA, Inc. the U.S. importer and distributor of Saab
automobiles, has licensed CST Jacada to provide Java-based graphical client
access for Saab's Intranet Retail Information System (IRIS), a computerized
retailer information system to be installed at 225 dealerships and 20 service
points in North America. The upgrade to Saab's retailer information system
will provide easy-to-use graphical access to parts and repair orders as well
as a variety of financial information located on both mainframe and midrange
systems.
CST Jacada, used in conjunction with Lotus' Domino, will help eliminate
the need for retailers to perform cumbersome navigation through multiple
systems and databases for parts, repair or financial information.
With the collaboration of IBM and EDS, Saab will deploy its new graphical
access with the April launch of Saab's new car lines -- the new 1999 Saab 9-3
(pronounced "nine three") Convertible, Coupe and five-door, and the new 1999
Saab 9-5 premium performance sedan. The new Saab cars are powered exclusively
by turbocharged engines, and feature a host of new safety innovations such as
the Saab Active Head Restraint (SAHR), a world-first safety system that
reduces the risk of whiplash injuries.
"The use of CST Jacada to develop our Intranet Retail Information System
will help speed retailer access to vital customer and vehicle information,"
said Jerry Rode, Director of Information Systems, Saab Cars USA, Inc. "Today,
the current information system requires many Saab retailers to resort to
telephone calls to find necessary information," he said. "IRIS and its
graphical interface capabilities -- along with several other important, nearly
completed initiatives -- will be a key factor in meeting our customer
satisfaction goals."
"Using CST Jacada and Lotus' Domino we will integrate information residing
on existing AS/400 and mainframe systems to provide an integrated, seamless
graphical interface for our retailers," Rode said. "At Saab, we believe that
CST Jacada is the best solution available," he said, "CST Jacada generates the
graphical client for our host application in 100 percent Java allowing us to
easily integrate, maintain and deploy our host application with our new Lotus'
Domino initiatives."
"Saab's adoption of CST Jacada is a tremendous endorsement for Java as an
Intranet enterprise solution," said David Holmes, Vice President, Marketing,
CST Inc. "Using CST Jacada, Saab can more easily create and maintain a thin
client computing solution for their mission critical retailer application
integrating the Java-based graphical clients of their host applications with
their new Intranet initiative."

    CST Jacada 5.0
CST Jacada 5.0 utilizes the power of the CST KnowledgeBase, the industry's
only AI-based engine that automates the analysis and conversion of host
application interfaces (3270 and 5250) and the generation and maintenance of
feature-rich graphical clients. The CST KnowledgeBase is comprised of over
700 rules-based pattern definitions with associated graphical control
representations.
Many of the world's largest application software companies are currently
using the CST KnowledgeBase to enable their customers greater desktop access
to mainframe and midrange applications. Applications using the CST
KnowledgeBase range from manufacturing enterprise resource planning and call
center applications to sales management and healthcare information systems.
