Arle Named Delphi Exec Director, PlanningTROY, MICH., Jan. 23 -- John P. Arle has been appointed executive director of planning for Delphi Automotive Systems, responsible for coordination of the continued restructuring of Delphi, including the integration of Delco Electronics. Arle also will oversee Delphi's strategic venture development and acquisition activities. He succeeds William F. Muir, who has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer for GMAC. Arle will report to Delphi President J. T. Battenberg III and become a member of the Delphi Strategy Board. The appointment is effective Feb. 1. Arle joined GM in 1975 as a senior analyst at the Treasurer's Office in New York. He held a series of assignments there, including: director of overseas financial analysis, director of employee benefit plans analysis, and director of compensation and benefit plans analysis. He was named director of finance for GM de Venezuela in 1982, and was named vice president and chief financial officer at GM Hughes Electronics in 1986. He moved to the GM/Toyota NUMMI joint venture in California in 1988 as general manager and comptroller-. In 1992, he was named vice president and finance manager for GM of Canada, Ltd., and in 1993, became vice president and chief financial officer for Saab Automobile AB. Arle completed a bachelor of arts degree at Colgate University in 1969, and was awarded a masters degree in business administration from Harvard University in 1975. SOURCE Delphi Automotive Systems
