These payments will be the third highest in Chrysler history. The only payments larger than this year's amount were those paid for the 1994 and 1996 plan years which averaged $8,000 and $7,900, respectively. Those profit sharing payments by Chrysler are the highest ever made by a U.S. auto company. Over the last five years, Chrysler's cumulative payments will have totaled $28,000 per employee. Since Chrysler's profit sharing payments began in 1988, Chrysler's U.S. hourly and salaried represented employees will have received more total dollars per employee in profit sharing than represented employees at each of the U.S. auto companies. Additionally, about 18,150 professional-administrative and management employees will be eligible for profit sharing payments based on the same formula. SOURCE Chrysler Corporation
