Speedway Motorsports' Charlotte Motor Speedway Announces Seat ExpansionCONCORD, N.C., Jan. 22 -- With tickets for the May 24 Coca-Cola 600 selling at record pace, Charlotte Motor Speedway officials today announced an estimated 11,000-seat expansion of the Diamond Tower Terrace grandstand. Already under construction, the project will also include the capacity for 12 luxury suites. The expansion will extend from the existing structure over to turn two and will be completed for the May 16 running of the Winston and other Coca-Cola 600 month activities. Upon completion of the project, total seating for the Charlotte Motor Speedway will be approximately 147,000. Already on sale, Diamond Tower Terrace extension tickets will cost the same as seats in the original Diamond Tower Terrace. Tickets for the May 24 Coca-Cola 600 and Oct. 4 UAW-GM Quality 500 are $84 each. Tickets for the Winston on May 16 are $63. Jewel Box seats must be purchased as part of a special three-race (The Winston, Coca-Cola 600 and UAW-GM Quality 500) season ticket for $300. All the fan-friendly amenities found in the speedway's Diamond Tower Terrace will be implemented in the extension, including the unique dual- concourse/mezzanine levels and the 19-inch-wide stadium-style chair seats. The Diamond Tower Terrace extension will also continue the special seat color design from the Diamond Tower Terrace that displays a mammoth version of The Speedway Club logo when the seats are not occupied. Seats in the new Diamond Tower Terrace extension can be purchased by visiting the speedway ticket office located on the second floor of Smith Tower, or by calling (704) 455-3200.
