Peregrine Incorporated Achieves QS-9000 Certification

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Jan. 20 -- Peregrine Incorporated today
announced that the company attained QS-9000 certification during its first
year of operation.
Certification was effective on Dec. 20, 1997, and documentation was
received by Peregrine today. Certification is becoming a prerequisite for
doing business in the North American automotive industry. The certification
process involved an extensive audit of the company's Quality System by ABS
Quality Evaluations, a third party auditing firm.
"With the successful certification of the Peregrine Quality System at the
Southfield corporate headquarters, all of the company's production operations
attained the QS-9000 certification," said Todd Hughes, manager of Peregrine's
QS-9000 Quality System.
Complete QS-9000 certification requires compliance at the corporate level,
which includes a variety of functions normally carried out by the central
office.
"Achieving QS-9000 certification this quickly is a great accomplishment
for Peregrine, and reflects the drive and determination of Peregrine's
employees," Hughes said.
QS-9000 is the quality system standard developed by a joint
Chrysler/Ford/General Motors Task Force that includes and builds on ISO 9001.
ISO 9001 is the international set of quality management standards that provide
a common approach for documenting and maintaining a quality system designed to
facilitate international trade. QS-9000 adds supplemental, automotive-
specific requirements defined to meet the fundamental quality expectations of
the automotive and truck manufacturers.
Peregrine Incorporated supplies interior and exterior products to the
automotive industry through manufacturing operations in Battle Creek, Flint,
Jackson, Livonia, and Warren, Mich.; Oshawa and Windsor, Ontario; and
Matamoros, Mexico. The company has annual sales of more than $1.1 billion and
employs approximately 5,500 people. Peregrine Incorporated was formed by
Joseph Littlejohn and Levy, a private investment partnership, on Dec. 31,
1996. Peregrine's Web site address is http://www.pgrine.com.
