UT Automotive Names Tony Brown Vice President of Supply Management

DEARBORN, Mich., Jan. 14 -- Thomas K. (Tony) Brown has been
named vice president, Purchasing and Logistics, at UT Automotive, a United
Technologies company.
UT Automotive President Scott Greer said Brown will be responsible for
fully integrating all aspects of UT Automotive's supply management process
around the world. Brown will lead all supply management activities for UT
Automotive's Electrical Systems - Americas (ESA) and Interiors - Americas
operations, and will be responsible for integrating the company's European and
Asian purchasing operations.
"We have taken this action to support the global objectives that Tony and
his team have been asked to achieve over the next 3-4 years," Greer said.
"These objectives support our business goals and directly support UTC
initiatives to reduce its purchase costs by $750 million during the next four
years."
UT Automotive's goals include dramatic reductions in purchasing and
logistics costs; improved inventories and better responsiveness to customers;
and improved supplier performance while significantly reducing the supply
base.
"These changes will help us achieve our objectives and provide a more
consistent supply management process across the company," Brown said.
Brown joined UT Automotive in March as executive director of purchasing
and logistics of the company's Wiring Systems operation. Before coming to UT
Automotive, he was executive director, corporate purchasing and
transportation, at QMS, Inc. He also spent 15 years with Digital Equipment
Corp. in the areas of materials, logistics, procurement and quality assurance.
Brown has a bachelor's degree in economics and finance from American
International College. He is CPM certified, as well as a Six Sigma
Consultant.
