1998 North American International Auto Show Notes, Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998DETROIT, Jan. 13 -- Following are 1998 North American International Auto Show Notes: * ATTENDANCE NUMBERS for Monday, Jan. 12, the third day of the 1998 North American International Auto Show, were 37,599. * TODAY'S HOURS at the 1998 North American International Auto Show are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Special access for people with a disability is one hour earlier than the above hours. * TICKET PRICES: adult $8; Senior (65 and over) $4; children (12 and under) free when accompanied by a parent. * AUTO SHOW TICKETS are available at Cobo Center during the 1998 North American International Auto Show and through Ticketmaster. Show ticket booths will close today, Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 9 p.m. * PARKING FOR THE 1998 North American International Auto Show is available at Cobo Garage, Cobo Roof and Arena Garage, Joe Louis Arena Garage, Ford Auditorium Garage, Riverfront parking, next to Joe Louis Arena and other nearby local facilities. The People Mover monorail system provides access to a number of parking facilities and stops at Cobo Center. * THE AUTOMOTIVE NEWS WORLD CONGRESS continues today, Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Detroit's Westin Hotel. Brand management will be the topic for speakers in the morning. They include: Roy Roberts, vice president and general manager, Pontiac-GMC Division; Dr. Marcus Chao, vice president and chief representative, China operations, Delphi Automotive Systems, Inc.; J. Davis Illingworth, Jr., group vice president, Toyota Division, Toyota Motor Sales, USA Inc.; and W. Austin Ligon, president, CarMax. A panel on retailing will convene Tuesday afternoon to address "Dealer Consolidation: Emerging Retail Channels." Members will include: Ramsay Gillman, president, National Automobile Dealers Association; Dan Myers, partner, Forehand & Fuller; and Edd Roggenkamp, general manager, dealer network investment and development, General Motors Corp. A supplier panel will discuss global sourcing and the quest for zero defects. Panelists will include: Robert Rossiter, president and COO, international operations, Lear Corp.; Thomas Stallkamp, president, Chrysler Corp.; and Harold Kutner, vice president, worldwide purchasing, General Motors Corp. Keynote speakers for Tuesday night's gala dinner will be Juergen Schrempp, chairman of the Board of Management, Daimler-Benz; and H. Wayne Huizenga, chairman, Republic Industries, Inc., parent company of AutoNation.
