Tenneco Shareowners Meeting Will Be May 12 In Greenwich

    GREENWICH, Conn., Jan. 13 -- Tenneco announced today that its
board of directors has scheduled the corporation's annual meeting of
shareowners for 10:30 a.m. (eastern time), Tuesday, May 12, 1998 at the
company's corporate headquarters, 1275 King Street, in Greenwich, Connecticut.
    The record date for shareowners to vote at the meeting is March 20, 1998.
