Tenneco Names Larry D. Brady and Roger B. Porter to Board of DirectorsGREENWICH, Conn., Jan. 13 -- The Board of Directors of Tenneco announced the election today of Larry D. Brady, president of FMC Corporation, and Roger B. Porter, IBM Professor of Business and Government at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, to membership on the company's board effective immediately. Brady, 55, has spent the past 20 years with FMC Corporation, one of the world's leading producers of chemicals and machinery for industry and agriculture with revenues of $5.0 billion. He was appointed to his current position in 1993 but also served in various other capacities including executive vice president, vice president of corporate development as well as a number of managerial roles. Prior to FMC, Brady was employed at TRW, Inc. from 1974 to1978 serving as vice president of finance for Financial Data Services, Inc. and the Singer Business Machines Division. He began his career at Beatrice Foods, where he was general manager of the Striker Boat Division from 1972 to1974. "Larry brings a background of strong business leadership in a manufacturing environment to our board," said Dana G. Mead, chairman and chief executive officer. "We look forward to the insights and viewpoint he will bring to our business." Brady holds a bachelor's of science degree from the United States Naval Academy and a master's degree in business administration from The Harvard Business School. He serves on the boards of directors of FMC Corporation and Harnischfeger Industries, Inc. Porter, 51, has had a 25 year career, bridging education and government. Currently, he is Director of the Center for Business and Government at Harvard University and is the IBM Professor of Business and Government, having joined the Harvard faculty in 1977. For more than a decade, he held senior economic policy positions in the Ford, Reagan and Bush White Houses, serving as special assistant to the President and executive secretary of the Economic Policy Board from 1974 to 1977, as deputy assistant to the President and director of the White House Office of Policy Development from 1981 to 1985, and as assistant to the President for economic and domestic policy from 1989 to 1993. "Roger's proven expertise and experience in business and government will be of great value to our company," said Mead. "We are pleased to have someone of Roger's character and talent join our board." Porter received his B.A. degree from Brigham Young University and was selected as a Rhodes Scholar and Woodrow Wilson Fellow receiving his bachelor's degree in philosophy from Oxford University. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Harvard University. Porter serves on the boards of directors of Zions Bancorporation, National Life of Vermont, and RightChoice Managed Care, Inc.
