1997 Record Year For Southeast Toyota Sales

    MIAMI, Jan. 13 -- With 1997 retail sales of 185,204 cars and
trucks, Southeast Toyota Distributors, Inc., today reported a new annual sales
record. The former record, set in 1996, was surpassed by three percent.
    "Sales hit an all-time high for Southeast Toyota and our dealers,
bolstered by the Kentucky-built Camry and all-new Sienna," said Pat Moran,
president/CEO of Southeast Toyota. "We had an especially strong push in
December because we wanted to contribute to Camry's status as America's top
selling car."
    In addition to Sienna, Southeast Toyota's sales leaders for 1997 include
Tacoma, up 10.4 percent; 4Runner, up 39 percent and RAV4; up eight percent.
    Nationwide, Toyota Division sold over one million cars and trucks for the
fourth consecutive year.
    Ranked first among Toyota's American distributors in sales and customer
satisfaction, Southeast Toyota is the independent distributor of Toyota cars
and trucks in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
