Stemco, Inc. to Represent Timken Wheel Bearing Business Timken Expands Heavy-Duty Aftermarket Sales ForceCANTON, Ohio, Jan. 12 -- The Timken Company has appointed Stemco, Inc., to sell Timken(R) tapered roller bearings in the heavy-duty truck wheel bearing aftermarket in the US and Canada. Stemco will represent the Timken aftermarket wheel bearing business for class 6, 7 and 8 heavy-duty trucks and trailers. Stemco will sell to both the independent distributor and OE service dealer channels. "This is a strategic move to further strengthen our position in the truck aftermarket," said Rich Adams, vice president - automotive sales and marketing, for The Timken Company. "We are determined to grow in this important segment of our business and our relationship with Stemco will substantially broaden our customer and end-user contact." The agreement between Timken and Stemco took effect January 1, 1998. Under the agreement, the Stemco sales force will be supported by Timken regional sales managers regarding the sale of Timken product. "This agreement represents an alliance that brings together two of the strongest brands in the industry," said Warren Waldorff, general manager - automotive aftermarket, The Timken Company. "Their primary focus will be direct fleet contact, and together we will continue to support and work with our current Timken authorized distributors and dealers to grow our wheel bearing business more rapidly.
