Perceptual Robotics' Software Dazzles Internet Users With Live Coverage of The 1998 North American International Auto Show

"Be There" at the NAIAS via live web telepresence and experience
PRI's largest simultaneous deployment of iCaster systems.

CHICAGO, Jan. 12 -- Perceptual Robotics, Inc. (PRI), creators
of the premier software for live interactive video on the Internet
(http://www.perceptualrobotics.com), is enabling car fans across the world to look
around the NAIAS live, as if they were really standing at the show. PRI's
iCaster technology allows Internet users to put the pedal to the metal and
steer directly to the Detroit auto show from computer desktops to see the
automakers' newest innovations first hand.
To zoom in and take your own live pictures of the hottest cars, visit
PRI's web site http://www.perceptualrobotics.com or the official NAIAS Web site
http://www.carpoint.com. Microsoft selected PRI's Telepresence software as a key
part of its live coverage of the '98 auto show. Users can remotely aim and
zoom four robotic cameras, putting them in the driver's seats for their own
personal experiences of the show.
"Our software products are tremendous marketing tools for automobile
manufacturers," said Paul Cooper, president & CEO of Perceptual Robotics, Inc.
"The vivid, engaging experience of using PRI's interactive cameras to look at
a car, auto show, or assembly line lets car companies establish a real bond
with their customers."
"The live interactivity of PRI's technology is very exciting for users,"
said Alex Simons, product manager of Microsoft CarPoint. "We think it's a
terrific part of the CarPoint auto show web site."
"The iCaster system allows users to direct the camera wherever they
want -- but the software also knows where they are looking," said Peter
Prokopowicz, CTO and co-founder of Perceptual Robotics, Inc. "Companies can
get market intelligence on what cars draw consumer attention."
To enhance brand awareness, automotive marketers can provide their
customers with an experience on the Internet that is the next best thing to
being there in the showroom -- live. PRI's software runs on a PC server
attached to a computer-controlled camera and motors. Once a PRI system is
installed at a location or event of interest, Internet users from around the
world can remotely control what they see with the click of a mouse.
PRI's "being there" technology is used by many of the world's leading
companies to market events and attract visitors to their Web sites. PRI's
software has been used to "webcast" events including the Presidential
Inauguration, the Cannes Film Festival, the Hong Kong hand-over, and the US
Open tennis championship. Other applications for PRI's technology include
enterprise monitoring -- for example, letting a quality control or labor
relations manager monitor the factory floor from her desktop.
Perceptual Robotics, Inc. (PRI) develops and markets industry-leading
Telepresence software products, including iCam, iPanorama and iDirector.
Providing a live interactive "being there" experience unprecedented on the
Web, PRI's technology is used by many of the world's best known companies, in
applications ranging from New Media webcasting of events such as the latest
James Bond premier, through factory-floor monitoring and Web-based marketing.
PRI was founded in July 1995 and is based in the Chicago area. Visit PRI's
