Courtesy Patrol Expands Service During Auto Show

DETROIT, Jan. 8 -- The Freeway Courtesy Patrol has expanded
its hours to provide cost-free, responsive mechanical and personal assistance
to motorists attending the 1998 North American International Auto Show at Cobo
Conference/Exhibition Center.
Part of the Alliance for a Safer, Greater Detroit, an affiliate of the
Detroit Regional Chamber, the patrol's additional evening hours will be
Friday, Jan. 9, 6 p.m. to midnight and Saturday, Jan., 10, 6 to 11 p.m. Two
vans will loop the Detroit freeways and downtown area on Jefferson to Cobo.
The Alliance reminds travelers to fill up their gas tanks in anticipation of
heavy traffic on the freeway system.
To date, the Courtesy Patrol's seven AAA Michigan emergency vans have
assisted more than 19,000 motorists on regional Detroit freeways, providing a
variety of services, including changing or repairing tires and other minor
repairs, servicing disabled vehicles, clearing debris from the highways, and
more.
The Alliance for a Safer, Greater Detroit is an organization of business,
law enforcement and community organizations working to reduce crime and the
fear of crime in Metro Detroit.
