Standard Motor Products, Inc. Announces Senior Management ChangesNEW YORK, Jan. 8 -- Standard Motor Products, Inc. , automotive replacement parts manufacturer, announced today that John Gethin and Michael Bailey have been appointed Senior Vice Presidents of the Company. John Gethin, 49 years of age, is appointed Senior Vice President Operations, responsible for management of the Engine Management, Temperature Control and Canadian operations and the sales and marketing functions of the Company. Mr. Gethin also will manage the brake operations until the swap with Cooper is completed. Mr. Gethin has been with Standard Motor Products for nearly two years as Vice President, General Manager of the EIS Brake Parts business and prior to Standard, Mr. Gethin was employed by Cooper Industries and Echlin, Inc. in senior management positions in the automotive component business. Mr. Gethin has worked in the automotive components industry for 26 years. Michael Bailey, 45 years of age, is appointed Senior Vice President Administration and Finance and remains Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Bailey is responsible for the financial functions, management information systems, new business development and other administrative functions of the Company. Mr. Bailey joined Standard Motor Products in 1993, and has served as Vice President Finance, Chief Financial Officer since then. Prior to Standard Motor Products, Mr. Bailey served as the Chief Financial Officer of Breed Technologies, Inc. Mr. Bailey has more than 22 years experience in the automotive components business. Mr. James Burke, 42 years of age, formerly Corporate Controller, was named Director of Finance, Chief Accounting Officer. Mr. Burke has been with Standard Motor Products eleven years and prior to Standard, was with Parker Hannifin Corporation. Mr. Lawrence Sills, President of Standard Motor Products said, "The new senior management structure is a natural transition as we seek to improve coordination among our operations, increase accountability and focus an achieving greater efficiencies throughout our business. Mr. Gethin and Mr. Bailey will champion the full implementation of our EVA process and will lead our efforts to retain our leading position in the automotive aftermarket."
