MPI International Acquires International Fineblanking

    ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich., Jan. 6 -- MPI International Inc.
(MPI), a leading QS-9000 certified supplier of fineblanked and machined metal
components and assemblies, has announced the acquisition of Dayton, Ohio-based
International Fineblanking Corp. (IFC), a privately held manufacturer of
fineblanked components.  Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
    "This acquisition expands MPI's product base and adds value to customers,
helping us remain competitive in the fineblanked stamping industry," said MPI
President Karl A. Pfister.  "We are excited that IFC is a part of our team of
worldwide affiliates."
    The acquisition complements and expands MPI's current product portfolio,
which includes transmission, exhaust and axle flanges, seat mechanisms and
brake and air conditioner components.
    With annual sales of more than $15 million, IFC operates one Ford TQE-
certified facility, employing more than 130 employees.  The company provides
valve plates, as well as a variety of fineblanked and machined components, to
the automotive industry.
    Headquartered in Rochester Hills, Mich., MPI International Inc. is a
leading supplier of fineblanked and machined metal components and assemblies
to U.S., Latin American, European and Pacific Rim OEM and Tier One automotive
manufacturers.  Upon completion of the acquisition, the company's world class
products will be designed and manufactured by approximately 1,000 people at
six sites located in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, South Carolina and Wisconsin,
generating more than $130 million in sales annually.
