Society of Automotive Analysts Announces Republic Industries' Steven R. Berrard as Speaker for Automotive Outlook Conference in Detroit

    GLENVIEW, Ill., Dec. 23 -- SAA is pleased to announce that
Steven R. Berrard, President and Co-C.E.0. of Republic Industries, Inc.
, will present a special address at the Society of Automotive
Analysts' (SAA) 10th Annual Automotive Outlook Conference on January 5, 1998
at Cobo Center, Detroit, Michigan.  Berrard is scheduled to speak on
"Manufacturing Implications from a Restructured Retail Base."
    Berrard and H. Wayne Huizenga co-manage Republic Industries, Inc., a
diversified company operating in the automotive, solid waste and electronic
security services industries.  The operations of Republic include AutoNation
USA, a leading developer and operator of used car megastores, Alamo
Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental Systems, Inc., automotive dealerships in South
Florida, Northeast Ohio, Southern California and Phoenix, Arizona, the fifth
largest solid waste business and the sixth largest security services company
in the U.S.
    Berrard joins the economists from the "Big 3" plus keynote luncheon
speaker Austin Ligon of CarMax Auto Superstores, Inc., among other speakers.
