Goodyear Will Build Logistics Center in Terrell, Texas

AKRON, Ohio, Dec. 22 -- Goodyear announced today that it will
build its Southwest Logistics Center in Terrell, Texas.
"After a comprehensive evaluation of sites in the Greater Dallas-Fort
Worth area, we have determined that the Terrell site will provide the optimum
mix of construction costs, operating costs and customer service," said Rick
Adante, Goodyear vice president of materials management.
Construction of the 764,000 sq. ft. facility, which will be operated by a
logistics provider, is expected to begin in early 1998.
The logistics center is expected to be operational in the fourth quarter
of 1998. The construction of this facility is part of an ongoing
rationalization process by Goodyear to provide world-class customer service
and efficiency with its North America Tire logistics network. The opening of
this facility will impact four existing Goodyear/Kelly-Springfield logistics
centers in Texas.
"We appreciate the efforts of everyone involved in the site selection
process," said Adante. "Community leaders in Terrell should be commended for
their responsiveness and understanding of our business needs."
